How can I make my own icons and graphics?

Most people use Photoshop to create icons, but that can be expensive. There are free graphic making programs such as the GIMP available for download online. Livejournal has plenty of great icon making tutorials, just take a look around!

Can I send icons to be displayed here?

Ofcourse! We would LOVE to display your artwork here. Just send your icons in an email to this address.

Why haven't you added icons that I donated?

If you donated some icons and they aren't on the site, they may have not met our criteria. We only add high quality (non pixelated) icons that are 100 pixels x 100 pixels in size. If your icons met that criteria, please be patient as they will most likely be added soon! We usually add donated icons within 1 week of receiving them.

What is Direct Linking?

Direct linking (or hotlinking) is using our URL to embed an image (icon) onto another website. For instance, if you were using an icon as a signature on a forum, putting this would be direct linking:

This steals bandwidth from our website!

What should I do instead of direct linking

Simple save the icon that you want to use to your computer, and upload it elsewhere. There are plenty of brilliant remote hosting websites listed here, and they are all free to use and some do not require registration!

Do I need to credit if I use an icon?

If you use an icon made by the staff (Angela or Jess) on a forum or messenger, you are not required to credit (although it would be nice if you did put a link back!). If you are using one that has been donated to us, please credit with their name! Do not claim any icon as your own, unless it is one you made yourself (obviously), and please do not add to any other fansites without asking and crediting.
